The Extension Detected a CMS, But I Think It's Incorrect. Why Might This Happen?

While Ultimate CMS Detector for Search strives for high accuracy, CMS detection can be tricky. Here's why a misidentification might occur:

  • Multiple Technologies: A website might use a primary CMS but also incorporate elements or plugins from another platform (e.g., a WordPress site using a HubSpot form). The extension might pick up strong signals from the secondary technology. The system is designed to show the highest confidence detection.
  • Highly Customized Sites: Websites with heavily modified themes or custom code can sometimes obscure the standard tell-tale signs of their underlying CMS.
  • Caching/Security Layers: Services like Cloudflare or other proxy/caching layers can sometimes alter or hide some of the typical CMS footprints.
  • Headless CMS or Static Site Generators: Modern web development includes approaches where the frontend is decoupled from the backend CMS, or where sites are pre-built as static files. These can be harder to identify using traditional signature-based methods if the frontend doesn't expose typical CMS markers.
  • New/Niche CMS: The extension is trained on a set of known CMS platforms. Very new, rare, or highly specialized CMS might not be recognized or could be miscategorized.

I am continuously working to improve detection accuracy. If you consistently notice misidentifications for specific types of sites, you can reach out here or using my Contact Form.
